Preschool: Do three requirements including the two starred *
_____ 1.* Learn why we use different pans for different types of cakes, cookies, brownies, etc.
_____ 2.* With an adult's help, make a cake or cake mix.
Level 1: Do four requirements including the two starred *
_____ 1.* Do preschool requirements 1 & 2.
_____ 2.* Learn what different types of beaters and mixers are used for.
Level 2: Do five requirements including the two starred *
_____ 1.* Do Level 1 requirements 1 & 2.
_____ 2.* Make a family recipe. If you don't have one, try a new one.
Level 3: Do six requirements including the two starred *
_____ 1.* Do Level 2 requirements 1 & 2.
_____ 2.* Make 2 sheet cakes with fondant and spreadable icing. Which one do you like best?
Level 4: Do seven requirements including the two starred *
_____ 1.* Do Level 3 requirements 1 & 2.
_____ 2.* Make icing decorations with a piping bag. Put a layer of fondant on first to stabilize.
Level 5: Do nine requirements including the two starred *
_____ 1.* Do Level 4 requirements 1 & 2.
_____ 2.* Teach someone how to do a skill from this badge or teach some knowledge about this badge to someone. You can teach kids, your spouse, seniors, anyone, just as long as you are sharing your new found knowledge. If for some reason you cannot teach what you have learned to someone else, you may choose an additional 2 optional requirements instead.
_____ 3. Make a decorated sheet cake for an event, such as a party or reunion.
_____ 4. Make a recipe based on another recipe.
_____ 5. Bake cookies or brownies.
_____ 6. Put candy coating on cupcakes instead of icing.
_____ 7. Have a party where you bring your own baked goods and decorate them with different styles.
_____ 8. Try to make brownie-cookies. There is a recipe on www.allrecipes.com
_____ 9. Watch a television show about baking (at least 2-3 episodes). If any of the recipes appeal to you, attempt to make them.
_____ 10. Make the same type of dessert using different recipes and compare them. Which one do you like best.
_____ 11. Make homemade candy or chocolate.
_____ 12. Decorate a cake or cupcakes to look like an animal or flower.
_____ 13. Compare baking from when the settlers came to America and now.
_____ 14. Make a seasonal dessert and decorate it with a seasonal decoration. For example, in October you could bake a pumpkin pie and put a jack-o-lantern face on it.
_____ 15. Look at baking books and make a recipe you have never made before.
_____ 16. Make cupcakes and design them to look like farm animals.
_____ 17. Prepare a dessert that is made by refrigerating and one that is made by baking. Which do you like best? Which is easier to make?
_____ 18. Make a cheesecake. Compare it with a traditional cake.
